Engineer Girls of Turkey (EGT) project; established in order to strengthen women in business life, and Ebru Özdemir, Chairperson of the Board of Limak Foundation won five awards in Stevie and IPRA Awards Ceremony which were held in London and Barcelona.
The Gala Night of the Stevie International Business Awards, that 3.900 applications from 74 countries evaluated, was held for the 15th time this year, in London on October 20th, 2018. Ebru Özdemir, Chairperson of the Board of Limak Foundation, was granted the Golden Stevie Award in the category of “Executive of the Year Civil Society” and Engineer Girls of Turkey (EGT) was granted Silver Stevie Awards in the categories of “The Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year – Europe”, “The Best Communication and Public Relations Campaign of the Year - Public Service” and “The Best Communication and Public Relations Campaign of the Year – Global Issues”.
A Golden Award to “Corporate Responsibility”
Golden World Awards are one of the world's most prestigious public relations awards, given by International Public Relations Association (IPRA) to the public relations practices that are successful globally. This year, Engineer Girls of Turkey project is granted the Golden IPRA Award in the category of “Corporate Responsibility”.
On October 2nd, 2018, we were at the Smartcon Istanbul Summit, where topics such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytical methods, IoT, Industry 4.0 and big data were discussed.
Ebru Özdemir, Chairperson of the Limak Foundation; Ebru Dorman, Chairperson of the StartersHub; Hanife Gümüş, Turkcell Regional Network Technologies and Operations Manager and one of the mentors of the “Engineer Girls of Turkey (EGT)” project; and three students from EGT participated as a speaker on the panel entitled "Leaders Changing the World", moderated by journalist Elif Ergu.
At the Smartcon Summit, where global trends and business models were addressed according to the different sectors in Turkey, EGT students had the chance to contact with many professional people from the business world.
The “Equality Movement”; which is also supported by Ebru Özdemir, Chairperson of the Board of Limak Investment, was launched.
The “Equality Movement” campaign, which is realized under the leadership of Women Work Group of the Association of Young Executives and Businessmen (GYİAD) promotes gender equality in all areas andaims to enable women to take more active role in all areas of society.
The campaign film which was screened for the first time at the gala event features many people from the world of arts, sports and business including Ebru Özdemir, Chairperson of the Board of Limak Investment.

Last year, International Women Engineers Day, June 23rd, was celebrated for the first-time as an international day. EGT works for the employment of more women engineers in Turkey and attended this special celebration event on Thursday, June 28th with TMK talks to be broadcast live on Facebook.
In TMK Talks Broadcast, professionals and young engineers graduated from TMK met with engineer candidates!
We gave information about EGT project in our "Training of Trainers" meetings in Antalya. We talked to educators on many important topics such as basic occupational concepts, self-knowledge and new trends in working life, factors that influence the choice of profession and job-targeting.
Within the scope of “Engineer Girls of Turkey High School Program” conducted in cooperation with the Limak Foundation, The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Turkey; "Role Model Meetings" were held in 50 pilot schools from 10 provinces.
As a role model, professional women engineers volunteering with the project; explained the engineering profession, working conditions and their own experiences with high school students and the event completed between April 9 and May 9, 2018.

On the first day of the meeting, the students shared their stories and dreams and met their mentors. UNDP Turkey Goodwill Ambassador and actor Mert Fırat, StartersHub President and MV Holding CEO Ebru Dorman, journalists, writers, social entrepreneurs Hakan Elbir, Şebnem Burcuoğlu and Elif Ergun, with their inspiring success stories and pleasant conversation, shared their experiences with students.
Engineer Girls of Turkey got “mentee training” in order to benefit from mentoring programs effectively at the gathering held on 25th -26th Feb, 2017.

In collaboration with Boğaziçi University Lifelong Learning Center, our students participated in the Social Engineering Certificate Program, which was organized in order to increase their knowledge and skills in finance, business administration, management and sustainability.
